Mushroom Garden House - Bur Oak (OC01)
Looking to add a little magic to your garden or indoor jungle? These enchanting little houses are just the thing. Each garden house is thrown on the wheel and hand finished with a carved opening. Then, I make a special mushroom top. Keep a little magic close by with one on your windowsill, or place outdoors in your garden to attract all manner of tiny magical creatures. Garden houses are hardy enough to leave outdoors all year long, even in freezing weather. This house has an open base and toads may use it if it’s placed outside in a suitable location.
This piece is impressed with bur oak leaves. Bur oaks are suited to life on the prairies and can survive grass fires. They have larger acorns with prominent caps. In the Miami-Illinois language, the word for bur oak is mihšiinkweemiš (https://mc.miamioh.edu/ilda-myaamia/dictionary/entries/search?search_term=Oak&tables%5B%5D=entries&tables%5B%5D=basicForms&tables%5B%5D=commandForms&tables%5B%5D=sentences&fields%5B%5D=english&fields%5B%5D=target).

Each house is made individually by hand in our studio.
